AcadCheck platform policy

AcadCheck is the online learning platform of the Catholic University Institute of Buea (CUIB). Before you continue, please read how it must be used and how your information is handled. You only need to accept this once.

1. Using AcadCheck well

  • Use your own account only. Keep your password and your fingerprint or Face ID sign-in to yourself, and never let anyone else sign in as you.
  • Use the platform for your studies and your work at CUIB: classes, course materials, assignments, quizzes and exams, messages and announcements.
  • Be respectful in classroom chats, channels, messages and live classes. Harassment, threats, insults, hate speech and indecent content are not allowed.
  • Do not upload viruses or harmful files, or pirated or illegal material.
  • Do not try to get around the platform's security, overload it, or open information that is not meant for you.

2. Academic honesty and the CUIB guidelines

  • Respect and follow the CUIB rules and regulations, the academic integrity rules and your lecturers' instructions, on AcadCheck exactly as on campus.
  • Hand in your own work. Copying, buying work, sharing answers or having an AI tool write your work for you is academic misconduct.
  • Take quizzes and exams alone, without help, notes, other devices or AI tools, unless your lecturer says otherwise.

3. Your activity is monitored

  • To keep the platform safe and fair, activity is recorded: sign-ins and sign-outs, the device used and the approximate location (from the internet address), the pages opened and the actions taken.
  • Assignments and project work are checked for copying and for AI-written text.
  • During quizzes and exams, the camera, microphone, screen and focus may be monitored, for example leaving full screen, switching apps, or another face or voice. Live classes record attendance and attendance checks.
  • Unusual or suspicious activity is reviewed by authorised CUIB staff and may be handled under the university's disciplinary procedures.

4. How your data is protected

  • Only what the university needs is collected: your name and contact details, your matricule or staff details, school, department, level and courses, your work, results, attendance and messages.
  • Only people whose role needs it can see your information: your lecturers, the staff and administrators of your school and, for students, the parents linked to your account.
  • Everything travels encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored scrambled so nobody can read them, uploaded files are private and checked for viruses, and the data is backed up every night.
  • Your data is used only for teaching, learning and running the university. It is never sold, and it is not shared outside CUIB unless the law requires it.
  • You can see your own information in AcadCheck and ask the university administration to correct anything that is wrong.

5. Notifications

  • AcadCheck sends notifications about new assignments, quizzes and exams, results, messages, announcements and live classes, including on your phone when the app is closed.
  • After you accept this policy you will be asked to allow notifications on this device. You can turn them on or off at any time in My Profile.

6. If the rules are broken

  • Misuse of AcadCheck can lead to your account being suspended and to action under the CUIB rules and regulations.
  • This policy may be updated. When it changes in an important way you will be asked to read and accept the new version.
